New Porsche 911 GT3 RS Looks Like A Street-Legal Racecar

The track-focused version of Porsche's ultimate sports car is coming soon and has recently appeared in spy shots sporting a massive rear wing. Well, we would have called it massive before seeing these latest photos of the next-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS. If you thought the GT3's wing was enormous, think again. These new spy shots show what is easily the largest spoiler we've ever seen on a Porsche road car. The rear spoiler extends so far from the body, some people belied this was a Porsche Cup car, not the road-going GT3 RS. However, a Cup car does not need a registration, as this car has, nor would it use Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes (as evidenced by the yellow calipers). CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz This prototype has all the makings of a GT3 RS. It features massive vents in the hood and front fenders, plus aggressive diffusers in the front and rear. Behind the doors, this prototype is strangely missing side air intakes, which are a traditional design and functional feature of the GT3 RS. Perhaps the 992 generation car's cooling and aerodynamics are so improved over the previous model, that it no longer requires them. CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz CarBuzz Rumors predicted that the 992 GT3 RS would produce around 550 horsepower from a revised 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine with manual and PDK transmission options available. Since the last GT3 RS only included a PDK, we doubt this new model will have a manual. Porsche remains committed to keeping naturally aspirated engines on the GT cars, though it's hard to imagine the company extracting almost 600 hp without relying on turbochargers.
