Jeep Finally Reveals When The Wagoneer Will Return

Aug. 21, 2020 3:55 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Teaser / 14 Comments It's just a few weeks away. After years of consumers asking Jeep to build a larger three-row SUV, the company is finally ready to answer the call. Jeep recently teased an upcoming model, which will bring back the 'Wagoneer' moniker that last appeared in 1993. This new model could go by 'Wagoneer' or 'Gran Wagoneer,' but we know it will sit above the Jeep Grand Cherokee as the brand's largest SUV, and the only one with a third-row option. Much is still unknown about this new Jeep, except for the minor details from the teasers. Thus far, Jeep only showed off the start/stop button with some infotainment controls in the background, as well as an American flag emblem next to the badging. Now, Jeep gives us yet another teaser, this time showing the front grille. Jeep Jeep As with other Jeep models, the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer features a seven-slot grille with its name written across the hood. This teaser showed a pretty ornate-looking front end, indicating that this new model could be more luxurious than other Jeep models. Jeep could also offer a standard Wagoneer, and an extend-length Grand Wagoneer, much like what Chevy does with the Tahoe and Suburban. There has not been a three-row SUV in Jeep's lineup since the Commander died off in 2010. Jeep Jeep This latest teaser also shows a new knurled control knob, which could adjust the infotainment or possibly drive mode controls. Jeep is finally ready to announce a reveal date as well, so we will see this new model on September 3, 2020. Expect the Wagoneer to use a modified Ram 1500 platform, and arrive in 2021 as a 2022 model. Engine choices including V6s and V8s from FCA's lineup are expected. This should be an exciting new SUV, set to take on full-size rivals like the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and GMC Yukon. FCA FCA FCA
