Metro Detroit-based shop Mil-Spec Automotive began by taking the highly-flawed Hummer H1 and improving almost every aspect of it. More recently, Mil-Spec turned its sights on the 2020 Ford F-150, creating a unique Raptor alternative with a 5.0-liter V8 producing a whopping 500 horsepower. As a follow-up, the Detroit shop just revealed a new special edition of its F-150 Supertruck. Whereas the original Mil-Spec F-150 Supertruck made do with "only" 500 hp, this new special edition model adds a supercharger for a total of 675 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. In addition to a supercharger, the 5.0-liter V8 engine also receives a new throttle body, intake, and cat-back exhaust with a 93-octane tune. Giddy up. "Mil-Spec Automotive recognized that a subset of performance-focused owners wanted more power, and our new Intrepid Performance Package offers significantly upgraded speed and torque across the board. The new Intrepid F-150 gives drivers a unique, limited series with an aesthetic anyone that has a passion for great trucks will enjoy." As part of the Intrepid Performance Package, Mil-Spec also adds upgraded fuel rails, 47 pounds-per-hour fuel injectors, and an air-to-liquid intercooler. Most impressively, these upgrades do not eliminate Ford's factory warranty. Other exterior upgrades include, signature LED lighting, special Baja bumpers, and Mil-Spec badging. Customers who desire even greater customization can opt for a low-profile roof rack and a bed chase rack that holds a spare tire. Like the Raptor, the Mil-Spec truck is rated for heavy off-road use with Baja Performance suspension, which allows for up to 12 inches of travel. Inside, Mil-Spec makes owners feel special with custom leather upholstery, billet controls and badging, and a special steering wheel with magnesium paddle shifters. Pricing for Mil-Spec's supercharged F-150 starts at $89,500, putting it comfortably above the base price of the Ram 1500 TRX.
