Mugen Gives Honda Civic Hatchback A Mad New Look

Aug. 21, 2020 10:35 AM ET by Sebastian Cenizo Tuning / 8 Comments It now looks more badass than a Type-R. The Honda Civicis a dependable, efficient, and fun-to-drive little car, but it also has some oddball styling. With all its sharp edges and radical flares, it's a popular choice for tuners to play with. One of the biggest and best tuners for all things Honda is Mugen and the current Civic has been an absolute feast for the legendary tuner. We've previously seen the Japanese company taking its knife to the Civic Type R with an aggressive body kit and other aero parts, but the firm isn't done yet. A new sports exhaust and more fresh styling bits have just been released for the standard Honda Civic Hatchback, and they really take the car's manga look to another level. Mugen Mugen Mugen Mugen The new sports exhaust is odd, even for a sharply-shaped car like the Civic and features a central dual-exit layout in a hexagonal shape. This is supposedly inspired by the styling of a fighter jet. If that sounds familiar, it's because Lamborghini has adopted hexagonal jet-fighter influence in the design of certain parts of the Murcielago and Aventador, among numerous other supercars taking aviation inspiration. Mugen doesn't say whether the exhaust frees up any extra ponies, though, but we suspect it might at the very least unlock a raspier soundtrack than that of the standard 1.5-liter turbo motor. Mugen Mugen Mugen Mugen Along with the exhaust is also a new rear spoiler, new rear bumper, and a new diffuser. A sharp front end has also been made even more aggressive with additional aero bits above the spotlights, a carbon fiber logo bar, and a new front lip that widens the car's look substantially. The parts are made of vacuum-molded ABS plastic and are compatible with either the standard exhaust or the abovementioned aftermarket option. As part of the upgrades, buyers can also select one of two new 19-inch alloy wheel designs. The new rear diffuser costs the equivalent of around $871, while the stainless steel exhaust is considerably pricier at a base price of around $1,820. Mugen Mugen Mugen Mugen Mugen Mugen
