Nissan' s Cheap Crossovers Will Get This Awesome New Interior

Aug. 05, 2020 2:01 PM ET by Jared Rosenholtz Interior / 6 Comments We hope the next Kicks looks like this. Earlier this year, Nissan India revealed a new vehicle called the Magnite Concept, a global 'B-SUV' that will go on sale in other markets but not the United States. It isn't difficult to see why the Magnite won't come stateside. A 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine powers the Magnate, producing just 72 horsepower, and even the turbocharged version only makes a lackluster 95 hp. Performance may not be the Magnite's strong suit, but the design is beautiful. We think the next-generation Nissan Kicks should look like this concept. Nissan India only revealed pictures of the Magnite's sporty exterior. Now, the company has unveiled two photos of the interior, which looks outstanding for an inexpensive car. This is still a concept car after all, so we can't assume the production interior will be this upscale, but Nissan is proving that it can design a stellar cabin. Nissan Nissan Inside, the Magnite's interior features a two-tone color scheme of red and black with a honeycomb pattern on the seats and dashboard. Nissan says the production model will be spacious with a roomy second row, as evidenced by the pictures. At the center, a standard eight-inch touchscreen looks as though it is floating on the dashboard and features standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The climate controls sit below the touchscreen with a storage area and a new shifter below them. This concept also boasts a digital gauge cluster, which will reportedly make it to the production model. Nissan Nissan "The Nissan Magnite concept is an evolutionary leap in Nissan's SUV history. Not only the exterior but also the interiors exude premium-ness, sophistication, and roominess," said Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India. "These core elements of design philosophy will be succeeded to the production model which is under development, coupled with superior technology on-board to be a game-changer in its segment." The Magnite will not be sold in the US market but we wouldn't be shocked to see some of its design elements migrate to the next-generation Kicks. The 2021 Nissan Kicks recently received a facelift in the Japanese market, but the US-spec car remains the same for now. Nissan Nissan Nissan
