New Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Limited Looks Hot

As a sign of its success, the current Jeep Grand Cherokee has been on the market for over a decade but has remained a strong seller late into its life. With an all-new Cherokee expected to arrive for the 2022 model year, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Japan has announced a limited edition of the existing version dubbed the Grand Cherokee S-Limited. Only 100 of them will be available for the Japanese market with styling upgrades based on the Summit and SRT8 trims - in Japan, the SRT8 is fitted with the 6.4-liter V8 engine used in the SRT sold in North America. FCA Japan FCA Japan FCA Japan FCA Japan The S-Limited is distinguished by its bulging hood from the SRT8 along with a sportier front fascia complete with a three-piece lower air intake. Other enhancements include a black grille, granite crystal accents, gloss black mirrors, and large 20-inch alloy wheels. Only three exterior color choices are offered: Slate Blue, Bright White, and Diamond Black Crystal. Among the standard features are LED fog lamps in front and LED taillamps with a darker effect. There are fewer changes inside, with the only upgrade mentioned being heritage-style seats upholstered in leather. The upgrades should please Jeep fans, though, as they do add more aggression to the overall design without owners needing to spend a lot more on the pricey SRT8 and the bonkers Trackhawk, which is one of the quickest SUVs in the world. FCA Japan FCA Japan FCA Japan FCA Japan Although the power bulge of that SRT8 hood hints at more power, this is nothing more than a stylistic upgrade as the S-Limited uses a 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Jeep special editions have proven popular in the past, and that should continue with an 80th Anniversary Edition of the Grand Cherokee expected here for the 2021 model year. It should receive its own array of visual tweaks to set it apart. For now, fans of the current generation Grand Cherokee still have plenty to look forward to.
