Barris has been known to designs some crazy machines, but the car featured here might just be one of the stranger ones. This custom 1998 Mercury Cougar-Based Woodie 2050 takes parts from cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette all the way through to the Ford F-150, and the end result is something truly astonishing, although it might not be to everyone's taste. Going by the name "Cougar Woodie 2050" this wonderful creation first made an appearance at the Grand National Roadster Show and is now going up for auction at RM Sotheby's. RM Sotheby's RM Sotheby's RM Sotheby's RM Sotheby's This vehicle is a true mashup of parts and can be called a hot rod in the truest sense of the word. The Cougar Woodie 2050 is based on a 1998 Mercury Cougar, including the chassis, mechanical bits, and interior. The front end gets its cool looks from a 1950 Ford and 1950 Mercury grille, while a custom-fabricated 1950 Ford station wagon rear end makes the backside of this creation look rocking. The finned and ribbed side pipes come courtesy of a Corvette, and we love the hand-formed and stained side oak paneling on the side that gives the Woodie its name. 40 coats of Gold Pearl of Essence exterior paint makes the Woodie dazzle in the sunlight. Speaking of the interior, we think the plush lambswool upholstery and carpeting is an interesting choice. Under the hood of this unique ride lies a Ford 4.6-liter supercharged V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission. The Cougar Woodie 2050 will be going up for sale at the RM Sotheby's Auburn Fall auction between September 3-5, and its estimated value is between $25,000 and $35,000.
