Chevrolet Chevrolet Those changes should be welcome news to anyone who uses their full-size truck for occasional towing duty: Trailering Tech enhancements, and Max Towing enhancements for the turbocharged 2.7L four-pot and 3.0L Duramax diesel. The former bullet point most likely refers to the trickling-down of some updates coming to the 2021 Silverado HD, such as where the backup camera feed displays - in the rearview mirror for Work Truck, Custom, LT, and RST trims - and a few other minor towing-focused tweaks.
The latter bullet point has us more stumped. It could be something as simple as Chevy upgrading the cooling system on trucks powered by either the 2.7L turbo-four or the 3.0L diesel, whether by increasing the capacity or increasing airflow. Cooling can be a major restriction on a vehicle's max tow rating because of how much heat towing tends to generate.

As Ford prepares to launch an all-new-generation F-150 for the 2021 model year, GM is quietly hacking away at a few updates for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to keep it sharp in the face of fresh competition. We already reported on some of those changes back in June, as a report asserted that three active safety features - Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Forward Collision Alert - would be added to Chevy's full-size light-duty pickup. But a new report from GM-Trucks alerts us to some changes we didn't previously know about, as detailed in a new "Consensus Report" distributed to Chevrolet's US dealer network.Chevrolet Chevrolet Those changes should be welcome news to anyone who uses their full-size truck for occasional towing duty: Trailering Tech enhancements, and Max Towing enhancements for the turbocharged 2.7L four-pot and 3.0L Duramax diesel.
