Special Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Celebrates 55 Years Of AMG

May. 13, 2022 2:30 PM ET by Gerhard Horn Special Editions / 2 Comments And it's limited to just 55 units in America. Mercedes-AMG is currently celebrating 55 years of AMG by unveiling a series of special edition models. The Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 55 was the first to debut in March, followed by the A35 and CLA 35 Edition 55 models in April. It seems like there will be one a month from now on, as the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled the angrier sibling of April's special editions.
It's known as the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Edition 55. As you might know, the 35 models serve as Merc's hot offerings, while the 45 models cover the hyper hatch/sedan territory, making the CLA 45 a prime candidate for such a special edition model.
Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG To make the Edition 55 model stand out, Mercedes-AMG includes the AMG Aerodynamics, AMG Night Package, and the AMG Night Package II as standard. The collective additions include a front apron with a larger front splitter, an AMG rear wing, deflector elements at the side air outlets of the rear apron, and the diffuser blade, all painted in high-gloss black. The front splitter and the trim pieces on the louvers in the outer air intakes, the inserts in the AMG side sill panels, the beltline trim strip, the window line trim strip, and the exterior mirror housings are finished in high-gloss black. Finally, the tailpipe trim is finished in black chrome while the louvers in the AMG grille are finished in the same. Two paint options are available internationally, but only Cosmos Black Metallic will be sold in the US market. We miss out on Digital White Metallic. The finishing touches are 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels painted in titanium grey and a silver chrome filler cap. Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG The interior is a study in contrast, with the main shades being red and black. The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in two-tone classic red/black leather, while the AMG steering wheel is finished in Dinamica microfiber with an Edition 55 badge. Other enhancements include door sill panels with red illuminated AMG lettering and black AMG floor mats made of high-quality velour with red contrasting stitching and "Edition 55" lettering. The dash trim is dark brushed aluminum with red and black accents. As an added bonus, you also get an AMG indoor car cover with a silver AMG logo. Disappointingly, no upgrades have been made to the engine, which still pumps out 382 horsepower. Like the AMG GT Track Series, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Edition 55 will be sold in a limited run of just 55 units in the US. It will arrive later this year and go on sale as a 2023 model. Pricing is yet to be confirmed. Mercedes-AMG Mercedes-AMG
