Fisker appears to be well on its way to releasing its first EV later this year. The Ocean SUV won't enter production until late in 2022, but the automaker's already got plans for its second vehicle. We've seen teasers for the Pear SUV, and today, Fisker took to Twitter to announce that it will be built at Foxconn's newly acquired facility in Ohio. As an added bonus, the image shared with the announcement gives us the clearest look we've had at the upcoming EV. The Pear will follow the Fisker Ocean to market as a smaller and more affordable electric crossover. Fisker's product roadmap includes four vehicles on the market by 2025, with a sports car and luxury car slated after the Pear. The Lordstown facility currently only has the capacity to produce around half of what Fisker wants, and it still needs to build the Lordstown Endurance. However, Fisker has another manufacturing partnership with Magna International to build the Ocean SUV at its facility in Austria later this year. Fisker's manufacturing plans for the remaining two EVs haven't been disclosed, so we'll have to wait and see how it plans to build the entire lineup. Foxconn just closed the deal to buy a plant from Lordstown Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, but it wasn't a completely smooth ride to the conclusion. Just yesterday, Lordstown announced that it would delay the deal with Foxconn for several days, which sent the fledgling EV maker's stock tumbling. Lordstown will be on the hook for $200 million that Foxconn paid up front if the deal falls through. In total, Foxconn will pay $260 million and says it will hire around 400 people from Lordstown. The deal with Lordstown sets Foxconn up to be an EV manufacturing hub in the United States. The Taiwanese manufacturer will build the Lordstown Endurance pickup and Fisker Pear at the plant, but it has the ability to make vehicles for other manufacturers.
