Special BMW 2 Series Celebrates 50 Years Of M
May. 25, 2022 9:43 AM ET by Chase Bierenkoven Special Editions / 1 Comment A plethora of BMW's best paint colors are available for order. Yesterday, BMW paid tribute to the M brand. It's been 50 years to the day, as of the 24th, since BMW's tuning division changed performance cars forever. As such, the BMW M3 got a special edition, called the Edition 50 Jahre BMW M. In short, this is a limited run of 500 units commemorating the tuning arm's 50th anniversary. Now, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and 1 Series are getting similar, if slightly less extensive treatment. These aren't flagship models by any means, and as such, they're not getting the full Edition 50 treatment. They're also limited to Europe for now, though we could see something similar come to other US-spec BMW 2'ers soon. BMW BMW BMW Given this year is all about M for BMW, this special edition, called the Edition ColorVision, will only appear on M Sport models for each. As with the Edition 50 M3 and M4 models, much of the motif here is centered around iconic BMW M colors. Buyers will be able to choose from one of 50 available color options, like Dakar Yellow, Daytona Violet, and Macao Blue. Outside, your choice of 1'er or 2'er Bimmer comes with new rear bumper outlets, a new lower intake below the grille, and a blacked-out diffuser. Like the full-fat M3 Edition 50, these models also get some new wheels in the shape of 18-inch Y-spoke M wheels. And, like the M3/M4 Edition 50, customers can have some of those special Edition 50 badges, though they're not included as standard as with the larger M cars. Finally, M Sport suspension rounds off the changes, lowering ride height by 0.39 inches. BMW BMW BMW BMW Inside, there are plenty of Edtion badges, some of which are embroidered, because what's a special edition without them? There are also some more noticeable changes, like bi-color leather trim, available in either white or red. The rest of the interior is topped off by some more M nods, like an M wheel, stainless pedals, Edition 50 kickplates, an ambient lighting package, and some special piped floor mats. As of now, BMW says customers can order their special edition Bimmers come July of this year, but hasn't mentioned pricing yet. Frankly, we're just hoping these special editions come Stateside. We'd love to spec out an M240i (or even an M2) with some of those sweet BMW heritage badges and some old-school M colors. BMW BMW BMW BMW BMW Join The Discussion
