New Exhaust Makes Ford F-150 Sound Better Than A Raptor

Jun. 04, 2022 6:43 AM ET by Jarryd Neves Video / 5 Comments The V8 in particular has an intoxicating exhaust note. It's easy to understand the appeal of the Ford F-150. Dearborn's favorite child has become a symbol of America and, thanks to a reputation for durability, it's the country's best-selling vehicle - a title it has held for many years. As such, it's amassed a great following, many of whom enjoy customizing their trucks. Owners often turn to companies such as Roush for more power, capability, and a sweeter sound.
But what if you're just looking for a more evocative exhaust note? You may want to knock on AWE Tuning's door. The aftermarket specialists have just released a new 0FG Catback Exhaust Suite for the 5.0-liter V8 as well as the 2.7- and 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engines. As you'll hear below, AWE's systems lend the V8 model a distinctive growl; it's menacing without being overbearing. The system differs depending on your selected configuration, comprising og three-inch catback exhausts with a non-resonated mid-pipe which, notes VP Jesse Kramer, proved a popular option. "We noticed that almost everyone wanted our non-resonated mid-pipe, so we developed a system that integrated it right from AWE," he added. Made out of T304L stainless steel, the company says fitting it should be a cinch. The exhaust has been designed to be bolt-on, meaning the undersides of your beloved F-150 won't be compromised. There are a number of finishes available. Dual exit configurations receive five-inch straight-cut, double-walled tips while the side exit finish receives a 4.5-inch slash-cut item. Depending on your tastes, the tip can be had in chrome silver or diamond black. As the video demonstrates, both are reserved and perfectly quiet when commuting at lower speeds. Interestingly, the tuner has made no mention of any extra power. The exhaust kit introduced for the Bronco in January brings an extra three and four horsepowers to the Bronco 2.3- and 2.7-liter, respectively. More importantly, it lends more character to the rather dull exhaust note. The F-150's closest rivals from GM have also benefitted from AWE's expertise. The 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8-equipped Sierras and Silverados are also available with a similar exhaust setup. AWE Tuning AWE Tuning AWE Tuning AWE Tuning
