Chevrolet Axes More 2023 Camaro Options

Jun. 17, 2022 8:46 AM ET by Gerhard Horn Muscle Cars / 9 Comments The Black Interior Appearance Package is dead. Chevrolet will start producing the 2023 Camaro next week, and we're sad to say it will likely be the penultimate model year for America's least-loved muscle car. The changes aren't significant, as Chevy is dropping two notable options and adding Radiant Red and Sharkskin Metallic to the color palette. The visible carbon fiber spoiler has been discontinued, and the Sport Pedals will no longer be available. Chevrolet likely decided to drop the spoiler as an option as it currently doesn't have enough carbon fiber to complete 2022 orders. All four engine options are carried over, including the turbocharged four-pot, supercharged 6.2 V8, and the naturally aspirated 3.6 V6 and 6.2 V8 options. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet More options have also been dropped with inside sources indicating that the 2023 Camaro will not be available with the Black Interior Appearance Package. According to the 2022 online configurator, this package retails for $715 and includes black door accent trim and black suede knee pads. As an LPO option, it was fitted by the dealer rather than the factory. The knee pads will still be available as a standalone option, however. The main problem appears to be the door accent trim as you can no longer opt for door accent trim in black, red, or white. Chevrolet Chevrolet Chevrolet The black and red door accents retail for $400, while white costs $415. These accents were available on the lower-trim models but not on 3LT, 2SS, or ZL1 models. The 2023 model will come with a hefty price increase, especially on higher trim levels. We suspect these options were dropped due to a lack of interest. Muscle cars aren't known for having spectacular interiors because manufacturers have to save money somewhere to make these cars affordable to the masses. To put it bluntly, having a 3.6 V6 or a 6.2 V8 under the hood is more important than the color of the door accent. Chevrolet is planning a proper farewell for the Camaro. The rumor mill suggests Chevy is planning a Heritage Edition ZL1 for 2024 to say one final goodbye to the beloved pony car before it gets a bullet in the brain or goes electric.
