Speaking at the event, one of several judges took to the stage to extol the many virtues of Meanx's creation. "[This] is someone who built their vehicle, by their hand and built their shop up as well. This is [one vehicle] you can't miss in the parking lot ... it's the monster truck, the Texas Toot." The Autozam Scrum and its owner will now head on to the next round and stand a chance at becoming this year's Hot Wheels Legend. Hot Wheels Hot Wheels Hot Wheels Big Apple Magic If Texas Toot goes on to be crowned this year's winner, the custom Autozam Scrum will join several equally distinctive creations that have nabbed the title in the past. The current crown holder comes in the form of a classic Volvo P1800. Known as 'Ain't No Saint' (a humorous nod to TV's The Saint starring Roger Moore), the UK-based Swede is a country mile apart from regular P1800 coupes. Much like Texas Toot, the gasser-inspired Volvo is also powered by a Chevy 454-block V8, although it also calls on supercharging for some extra gusto. May. 16, 2022 10:46 AM ET by Jarryd Neves Offbeat / 3 Comments And you thought the TRX was extreme. There are some truly wacky and wonderful automotive gems hidden across America. Since 2018, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has sought out the very best to celebrate the car community and, in the end, immortalize one special vehicle in toy form. The tour travels across the country and attracts myriad entries. We recently caught up with the Miami winner, Kyle Murphy, and his gorgeous 1998 Nissan 240SX. Since then, the competition has visited Houston, Texas, and found the latest regional winner in the form of a humble Autozam Scrum. Built by Texas-based Craig Meanx, the imaginative owner has created something that renders a Ram 1500 TRX mundane. After he was gifted a set of tractor tires, Meanx set about building something truly unique. Now sporting a five-foot lift, the once-little Scrum is now powered by a Chevrolet 454 big-block (7.4-liter V8) which sends its power to the massive wheels via a TH400 transmission. Hot Wheels Hot Wheels Hot Wheels Hot Wheels Adorably named 'Texas Toot', Meanx's JDM special was fabricated entirely in his garage and, to add to its eccentricity, features a 250-shot nitrous kit, custom 30-inch wheels, and, for comedic factor, train horns. The finished product is a far cry from the standard Scrum. To adhere to Japanese Kei car legislation, earlier models were powered by a 550-cc engine - this was later upgraded to a 660-cc unit, with approximately 38 horsepower on tap.Speaking at the event, one of several judges took to the stage to extol the many virtues of Meanx's creation.
