How to Erase Your iPad Using a Mac or Windows-based PC

To erase your iPad on a Mac or Windows PC: Visit www.icloud.com in a web browser and sign in with your Apple ID and password. If you're signing in on your computer for the first time, you'll receive notifications on your devices to approve the request. Click Find iPhone. Re-enter your password if the site requires a sign-in. A map will display with all of your iOS and Mac OS devices represented with green circles. Click All Devices at the top of the screen and choose your iPad from the list. A window will appear in the upper-right corner of the browser. This window has three buttons: Play Sound, Lost Mode, and Erase iPad. Play Sound tells your iPad to make an alert sound to help you find it if you're in its general location but don't know exactly where it is. Lost Mode will lock down your device without erasing it. You can also display a message on the screen with your phone number so that the person who finds it can contact you. To reset your device to the same state as when you purchased it with all of your data erased, click Erase iPad. After you confirm your choice, the iPad will reset the next time it's connected to the internet, if it isn't already.
