Figuring out where those emoji shortcuts are hiding, however, can be a bit tricky—especially if you're new to using a particular operating system or emojis in general. These instructions apply to PCs running on Windows 10. Open a file (such as Word, PowerPoint, or Notepad) or a web page where you'd like to add emojis. Then click to position the cursor in the text field where you want the emoji to appear. Press the Windows button and the period button (.) on your keyboard at the same time. A small emoji keyboard will appear in the bottom right of your screen. Use your cursor to select an emoji to add to your document file or text field. Use the menu at the bottom to browse through the categories of emojis or click the magnifying glass icon to search for one by keyword. The following instructions are for Macs running on macOS Sierra 10.12 or later. Open a file (such as Pages, Keynote or Notes) or web page where you'd like to add emojis. An emoji keyboard will appear where you've placed your cursor. Select an emoji using your cursor to add to your document file or text field. If you have an older machine, a Chromebook, or run Linux, you can copy and paste emojis from the web as a simple alternative solution. You can also do this in a mobile browser. Navigate to GetEmoji.com in a web browser. Scroll through the list of emojis or use the search field at the top to type in a keyword and find one fast. Click to the left of the emoji you want to use and highlight it by holding down your cursor and dragging it to the right. On a PC, hit Ctrl + C or on a Mac, Cmd + C to copy it. You can also use copy and paste on an Android or copy and paste on an iPhone. Navigate to the program, app, or web page where you want to paste the emoji and click/tap the text field where you want the emoji to appear.
