Expand Jump to a Section Enable Notes Step-by-Step: Create a Note Manage Your Notes Read Notes From Other Users Facebook's Notes feature is one of the oldest features that's still around today. It's been a useful tool for users to post lengthy text-based content that doesn't quite look right (or fit) in a simple status update. Creating and editing Facebook notes became unavailable after October 31, 2020. This information remains for archival purposes. S3studio / Getty Images

Enable Facebook Notes on Your Profile

Can't find the Notes feature in your account? It might not be enabled. Select the More option displayed in the horizontal menu found directly beneath your header photo. Select Manage Sections from the drop-down menu. Scroll down the list of options that pop up and make sure Notes is checked off and choose Save. Now whenever you click on More, you should see a Notes option, which you can click to manage and create new notes.

Create a New Facebook Note

Because it is doing away with the Note feature, Facebook has already removed this option for some users, so you might not be able to create new notes. Click + Add Note to create a new note. A large editor will pop up over your Facebook profile, which you can use to write your note, format it and add optional photos. Select the photo option at the top that allows you to select a header photo from your existing Facebook photos or upload a new one. Type a title into the Title field of your note and then type the content in the main content field. A formatting icon appears when you begin typing. Select any options to apply them to the text. There is also a photo icon. You can select this to add photos wherever you want in your note. If you're working on a lengthy note, you can select the Save button to return to later without publishing it. Any unpublished drafts will be deleted after October 31, 2020. When you're ready to publish your note, make sure you give it the right visibility setting by using the privacy options in the drop-down menu beside the Save/Publish buttons. Once it's published, the people within the limits of your visibility settings will be able to see it in their News Feeds, and they'll be able to interact with it by liking it and leaving comments on it. Select Publish when you are ready to publish the note.

Manage Your Facebook Notes

Until the end of October 2020, you can access and manage any of your notes from the More tab as long as the Notes feature is enabled. If friends have published their own notes where you've been tagged in them, you'll be able to see these notes by switching to the Notes about [Your Name] tab. To edit or delete any of your existing notes, select the title of the note followed by the Edit button in the top right corner. From there, you can make changes and update your note's content, change the privacy settings on it, or delete it by selecting the Delete button at the bottom of the page.

Read Facebook Notes From Other Users

New notes from your friends will appear in your Facebook News Feed when they post them for you to see, but there's an easier way to see them by filtering out all the other information. Simply visit facebook.com/notes to see a filtered version of your News Feed that only displays notes. You can also visit friends' profiles directly and looking for their notes section the same way you did on your own profile. If a Facebook friend has notes available for their own friends to view, select More > Notes on their profile to view a collection of their notes. Was this page helpful? Thanks for letting us know!
