Dolby Atmos elevates the home theater experience, and there's plenty of content available. Still, take these notes into consideration: Some films are released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a Dolby Atmos sound mix but don't provide a Dolby Atmos mix on the standard Blu-ray version, opting instead for a DTS-HD Master Audio mix. This is a disappointment for those with a strong commitment to Blu-ray but who haven't upgraded to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Competing technologies like Auro Audio and DTS offer their own immersive surround-sound formats. Studios sometimes must decide between Dolby Atmos or another immersive audio format. For 3D fans who view content on 3D Blu-ray discs, Dolby Atmos may be offered on the 2D Blu-ray version of the title but not necessarily on the 3D Blu-ray version.
