Xbox 360 consoles handle gamertag profiles in a somewhat unique way. The profile is tied to the device that it's stored on, but profiles don't have to be stored on internal hard drives. This is due to the fact that the Xbox 360 was originally available both with and without a hard drive, so consoles without hard drives needed to have the ability to store profiles on removable media. What that means is when you turn on your Xbox 360, the profiles you see may be stored on the internal hard drive, one of the memory cards, or even on a USB flash drive. To delete a profile, you need to figure out exactly where it is stored. The first step is to access the system settings on your Xbox. You can accomplish this by first press the Guide button in the center of your controller to open the Xbox Guide. Then navigate to Settings > System Settings and press the A button. With the System Settings screen open, navigate to Storage and press the A button. On the Xbox 360, profiles can be stored on the hard drive or removable memory. Highlight the hard drive, memory unit, or USB storage device that contains the profile you want to remove, and press the A button. With the hard drive, memory unit, or USB storage device file manager open, select Profiles and press the A button. This will bring up a screen where you will be able to see all of the profiles that are stored on that device. With the profiles screen open, highlight the profile you want to remove and press the A button. If you only see one profile, and it's the one you want to remove, it will be highlighted automatically. In that case, just press the A button. If you don't see the profile you want to delete, return to the Storage Devices screen and select a different storage device. Profiles can be stored on the hard drive, removable memory cards, and USB drives. With the profile management screen open, highlight Delete and press the A button. Deleting profiles is permanent, so this is your last chance to change your mind. You do have two different options though, and it's important to choose the right one: Select Delete Profile and Items and press the A button if you want to permanently remove all saved games and other items that are associated with the profile.Select Delete Profile Only and press the A button if you think you might want to recover the profile later. You can recover a deleted profile if you have access to the internet and remember the password for the profile, but saved games cannot be recovered if you delete them. After you choose which type of deletion to go through with, you will have to wait while the Xbox deletes your profile. When it finishes, you will see a screen that shows the remaining profiles that are left on your device. If you deleted the only profile, you will see a screen that shows that there are no remaining profiles. How to Delete a Profile On Xbox One Including Xbox One S and Xbox One X
The Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X all share an identical procedure for deleting profiles, which are referred to as accounts. Unlike the Xbox 360, you can't store an Xbox One profile on removable storage media, so you don't need to figure out where it's stored on your console to delete it. If you're getting rid of your console, and you want to remove everything from it all at once, you may want to reset your Xbox One instead of just deleting a profile. The first step is to access the system settings menu on your Xbox One. This can be accomplished by pressing the Guide button on your controller, navigating to System > Settings, and pressing the A button. With the settings menu open, you will need to navigate to Account > Remove accounts. If you have multiple profiles associated with your Xbox One, you will need to select which one to remove at this point. Highlight the profile you want to remove, and press the A button. If you only have one profile associated with your Xbox One, it will be highlighted automatically. In that case, just press the A button to proceed. The final step is to highlight Remove and press the A button. This will finalize the removal of the profile from your Xbox One. Kinect sign-in data, and any locally saved game progress, is lost permanently when you delete a profile from your Xbox One. However, you will be able to access any game progress that is saved in the cloud if you recover your profile at a later time. To recover your profile, you need to have internet access and the password for the profile. Why Delete Your Xbox Profile
There are a lot of reasons to delete a profile from an Xbox 360 or Xbox One. It's a good idea to remove your profile before selling your console or giving it away so that nobody else is able to gain access to your account.
