This article describes how to use Alexa with Netflix on your smart TV. Alexa Netflix commands are supported on third-generation and later Fire TVs and the Fire TV Cube. Control Netflix With Alexa on Fire TV
The Alexa Video Skill API allows you to control apps on your smart TV with your voice. This featured is enabled by default on all Fire TV models. While you can launch any app from the Fire TV home menu with voice commands, only specific services support the Alexa Video Skill API. Netflix added support for in-app voice controls with the version 5.3.0 update. With Alexa Netflix commands, you can: Search for shows and movies.Play a movie or TV show.Skip to the next episode.Control video playback. For example, from your TV's home screen, say “Alexa, play Stranger Things on Netflix” to start watching right away. When you ask Alexa to play a show, she'll either resume where you last stopped watching or play the next unwatched episode. If you have a Fire TV Cube, Alexa can execute such commands while your TV is turned off. Alexa Netflix Playback Commands
While watching Netflix, you can control video playback with the following commands: “Alexa, play."“Alexa, pause.""Alexa, stop."“Alexa, skip ahead # minutes/seconds.”“Alexa, go back # minutes/seconds."“Alexa, play from the beginning.”“Alexa, next episode.”“Alexa, previous episode.” Future updates to the Netflix app will support more voice commands. As of early 2020, it's not possible to pick a specific episode or season of a series. There's also no way to change Netflix profiles with Alexa voice commands, so you must manually switch between them. When you ask Alexa to play a show or movie from the home screen, she will open your account's default profile by default. Navigate Netflix With Alexa
You can also browse Netflix (or any app that supports the Alexa Video Skill API) using these voice commands to navigate the interface: “Alexa, go up.”“Alexa, move right.”“Alexa, scroll down.”“Alexa, select.” Netflix also supports advanced searches via voice commands. For other smart TV models, you can connect your TV with Alexa using an Alexa Voice Remote or a smart speaker such as your Amazon Echo or Echo Show.
