What to Know

Go to your profile and select Settings > Push notifications and deselect the types you no longer want to receive. From your profile, go to Settings > Email settings and deselect the email communications don't interest you.You can also turn all notifications off using system settings on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. This article covers how to disable notifications in the Flipboard mobile app or the desktop version of Flipboard that's accessed through a web browser. It also includes instructions for turning off email alerts and disabling all Flipboard app notifications.

How to Disable Push Notifications in Flipboard

If you're using Flipboard on your mobile device you probably get a ton of notifications from the company about new stories and social interactions. That's because by default you're subscribed to all the notification for Flipboard including likes, reflips, and comments. You can change that to receive fewer push notifications (or none) on your mobile device in Flipboard settings. Open Flipboard and tap your profile icon on the bottom-right corner of the page and then tap the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner. On the Settings page, tap Push Notifications. You may have to scroll down a little to find it. On the Push Notifications page, the types of notifications you'll receive have a checked box to the right of the notification name. Deselect any of these notifications that you don't want to receive. When you've finished with your selections, you can go back to Flipboard or even close out of the app. Your preferences will be automatically saved.

How to Change Flipboard Email Settings

If you receive too many emails from Flipboard, you can adjust those settings as well, but you'll have to do it from the desktop version of Flipboard that you access through a web browser. Open Flipboard in any web browser and click your Profile image in the upper right corner. In the menu that appears, click Settings. On the Settings page, scroll to Email Settings and deselect any of the email communications you do not want to receive. When you're finished, click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Turn off All Flipboard App Notifications

If you're still receiving notifications from Flipboard and you can't figure out why, there's one more way you can turn off notifications, including the badges that pop up on your Flipboard icon (because badges drive everyone crazy!). It's turning the notification for the app off completely. Depending on the device you're using, this can be accomplished in a couple of different ways. For Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications and find the Flipboard app. Toggle off the notifications for Flipboard. For iPhone: Go to Settings > Notifications and find the Flipboard app. Toggle off Allow Notifications . For iPad: Got to Settings > Notifications and find the News app. Then toggle off Allow Notifications. In newer generations of the iPad and iPad Pro, Flipboard is the default news aggregator, which is why it is listed under News in the Notifications category, rather than under Flipboard. You'll find Flipboard under the Home feed if you swipe right from the Home screen on your iPad. However, you can still install Flipboard on iPad, and when you do, it'll show up as Flipboard just like it does on iPhone and Android. Was this page helpful? Thanks for letting us know!
