Functions such as message templates, reminders, e-cards, and keyboard shortcuts make Yandex.Mail an appealing alternative to services like Gmail. Information in this article applies to the web version of Yandex.Mail. The Yandex.Mail mobile app for Android and iOS supports many of the same features.

Write and Send Email in Yandex Mail

In addition to rich text formatting options, Yandex.Mail includes templates for e-cards. You can also save emails you compose as templates. There's even a built-in translator that can automatically convert messages you compose into other languages. When you send an email, you can tell Yandex.Mail to watch for replies. If five days pass without an answer, you are reminded to follow up, if necessary. Yandex.Mail lets you schedule email deliveries for later (up to a little less than one year in advance). That way, you can make sure birthday emails always arrive on time. Yandex.Mail also offers a large selection of free custom themes to add personality to your inbox.

Find and Organize Messages in Yandex Mail

While the search tool lacks built-in operators and complex filters, Yandex.Mail supports folders and labels to help you sort messages. Using filters, you can set up Yandex.Mail to perform tasks automatically such as deleting certain mail and sending automatic replies. Keyboard shortcuts help you operate Yandex.Mail with greater efficiency.

Send Attachments and Large Files in Yandex Mail

Yandex.Mail lets you attach any files up to 22 MB individually and 30 MB in total per email. You can also insert a link into a file you upload to the Yandex.Disk cloud service, which raises that limit to 2 GB per file. For attachments you receive, Yandex.Mail offers a convenient document viewer that displays Microsoft Office documents as well as PDF files in your browser. When you select a supported attachment, it opens in a separate window. Select Save to Yandex.Disk to store it in the cloud.

Security and Spam Filtering

Yandex.Mail scans all incoming mail for spam, phishing, and malware. You can also block senders manually. As with other email programs, some non-spam messages may occasionally get sent to the spam folder. Yandex.Mail does not offer two-factor authentication for enhanced security, but a detailed activity log makes it possible to detect suspicious activity. You can even log out remote clients from the web interface. It's possible to forward your Yandex.Mail messages to other email programs and connect your account to other email clients via POP or IMAP.

Yandex Mail Lite Version

To switch to the simple HTML version of Yandex.Mail, select Light version in the lower-left corner of your inbox. The Light version removes themes, rich formatting, and other advanced features, but it's faster, making it ideal for slow internet connections. To switch back, select Full version below your inbox.
