How to Forward an Email in Thunderbird

When you receive an email message you want to share, follow these steps to forward it to one or more email addresses. You can also choose to edit the message before forwarding it. Open Mozilla Thunderbird and go to the Inbox. Select the message you want to forward. Double-click the email if you want to open the message in a new window. Select the Forward button (located in the upper-right corner of the message window). A new Forward Message window opens. Alternatively, select Message > Forward from the menu, or use the Ctrl+L keyboard shortcut (Command +L on a Mac or Alt+L for Unix). In the To field, enter the email address or addresses to which you want to forward the message. Alternatively, select the arrow to the left of To, choose Cc or Bcc, then enter the email address or addresses to which you want to forward the message. Check the Subject line. By default, it begins with Fwd: followed by the original subject, but you can edit it by typing in the Subject box if desired. Trim to the body of the message if desired. For example, to remove unnecessary email addresses or delete irrelevant content. Add a personal message at the beginning of the message body, if desired. Select Send to forward the message to your recipients.

Thunderbird Forwarding Options

To change whether Mozilla Thunderbird inserts the forwarded message as an attachment or inline in the new email: Open Mozilla Thunderbird. Select the Thunderbird menu (located in the upper-right corner of the Mail window). Select Options (located near the middle of the menu that appears). In the Options menu, select the Options icon to open the Options window. In the left pane of the Options window, select the Composition tab. Select the Forward Messages drop-down arrow. Choose Inline to forward messages in the body of the email window. Select As Attachment to forward all messages as attachments to emails. Select the Add extension to file name check box to send forwards as attachments. Doing so allows your recipients to view the file type more efficiently. Close the Options window.
