First reported by Protocol, the new compatibility allows anyone to watch Samsung’s streaming service, regardless of whether or not they have a Samsung device. Previously, you only could watch Samsung TV Plus on Samsung smart TVs or Samsung smartphones. It’s important to note Samsung’s app is still only available to download on Samsung phones, such as the Galaxy S21 or the Galaxy Note20. However, if you have an iPhone, you can still watch Samsung TV Plus via desktop on virtually any device. The service is entirely free, making it stand out from other streaming service competitors that charge subscribers a monthly fee for TV and movie access. Samsung TV Plus initially launched in 2015 and offers over 160 channels, ranging from news to sports to food, and more. However, since it comes without a price tag, you still have to pay the price of dealing with ads in between watching a show or a movie. Samsung’s move to expand its streaming service to third-party devices puts it in direct competition with streaming boxes like Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
