In a post on Xbox Wire, the team says it seeks to deepen the gaming experience with ultra-high quality visuals alongside Dolby Atmos’ immersive spatial audio. The feature has been in testing since May. John Howard/Getty Images Dolby Vision is a set of technologies that enables high dynamic range (HDR) video. It actively adjusts how color, contrast, and brightness is represented on screen for the best picture possible. The format is also compatible with the consoles’ next-gen features, such as automatic low-latency mode (ALLM), and can even output to 120FPS (but this depends on the TV). Users can check if their display supports Dolby Vision by going to Settings and checking to see if their 4K TV supports it. Players are urged to enable it by going to Video Modes in the same menu. The post mentions downloading the latest firmware on the Dolby Vision supported TV and recommends using ALLM while playing. Only 10 games and their different versions will support Dolby Vision at launch. They are Borderlands 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Dirt 5, Gears 5, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Immortals Fenyx Rising, F1, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Metro Exodus, and Psychonauts 2. More games will be added to the list in the future. Microsoft plans on having more than 100 titles optimized for Dolby Vision, like the upcoming Halo Infinite. Was this page helpful?
