What Is the Triller App

Triller is a short-form video platform, available for Android and iOS. As with its competitors, users create video clips and share them; clips are automatically made public; you can make videos private if you prefer. Videos can be up to 60-second clips; 16-seconds is the default.

How Triller Works

You can view Triller videos without an account, as you can on TikTok, but you need to sign up to create videos, follow other users, and like and comment on their videos. (To follow someone, tap Follow at the bottom of their video.) You can also share videos you like to other social networks or via text or email. You can report content as spam, inappropriate, or I don’t like it. The app doesn’t ask any further questions, though, so it’s unclear what happens after reporting a video.

How to Join Triller

To create videos and interact with others on Triller, you need to sign for an account, and optionally, fill out a profile. Your profile can include a picture, your name, bio, Instagram ID, and a cover photo, in addition to your username (but the username is all you have to provide). Download Triller for Android Download Triller for iOS Launch the Triller app. Tap the profile icon on the bottom right. Tap Register or Log in. Choose how you want to log in. You can use an email address or sign in with Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or a phone number. If you choose email, you need to create a username or password. After you’ve input that information, tap Create an account. If you choose phone number, you'll log in with a code sent as a text. You’ll need to confirm your email address, and then you’re ready to post videos and like and comment on others.

Create a Triller Video

You can upload a video you’ve already shot to the app or create clips using the built-in camera. After making one, you can download videos to your camera roll or share them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. Open the Triller app. Tap the pink plus sign on the bottom of the screen. Select Social Video to make a video. (If you want to make a music video, skip to the next section.) Tap the video camera symbol to start recording. After a few seconds, a stop symbol appears. Tap it when you’re done recording, and then tap Next. You can edit the length by tapping the thumbnail and then the edit button or post it right away. If you want to make edits, tap Edit Video. Tap the timeline to edit your clip. Tap the thumbnail at the bottom for more options, including filters, word overlays, emojis, handwriting, typing, and lightening, and darkening the footage. Tap Done when you finish adding effects. Tap Finish. Tap Choose Category and select something from the list. Tap Set as Private Video if you don’t want to share the video publicly. You can also add a description and tag a location. Tap Post Video. You also have the option to save it. Just tap Save to Project Drafts.

Add a Song and Make it a Music Video

To make music videos on Triller, you can record yourself dancing or lip-syncing to your favorite song, and the app will automatically edit it for you. Open the Triller app. Tap the pink plus sign on the bottom of the screen. Select Music Video. Choose a song. You can use Triller’s music library or connect yours to the app. Next, you can trim the audio and choose the length. Changing runtime is done by sliding the button left and right. Drag the track left and right to choose which part of the song to use. Tap Record your video! to record your video, then press your camera button. The recording will stop automatically or you can stop it manually if you prefer. When you're done, tap Next. Tap Choose Category and select something from the list. Tap Post Video.
