Plug in the First Google Wifi Point

Before setting up Google Wifi, find a spot in your home for the first Google Wifi point. It is recommended that you place this primary point somewhere near your internet service provider's modem and in plain view. Other objects should not obstruct the device. Connect the power cable to the Google Wifi point. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Google Wifi point. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the modem. Plug the adapter into a power outlet. A blue light pulsates in the middle of the device when it is ready for set up.

Set Up the Wi-Fi Network and Each Google Wifi Point

Next, set up your Wi-Fi home network and each Google Wifi device. Open the Google Home app. To set up Google Wifi, download the Google Home app for iOS or Android. If this is your first time using the Google Home app, first set up your home on the app. Tap the plus in the upper-left corner. Under Add to Home, select Set up device. Tap New devices. Select your home. Tap Next. The app searches for the Wi-Fi device that you plugged into an outlet. Tap Yes. When prompted, scan the QR code, which is located underneath your Wi-Fi device. Enter a name and password for your Wi-Fi network. When the setup is complete, the light in the center of the device turns white. Repeat steps 2 through 8 to set up additional Wi-Fi points. When you're done setting up the Wi-Fi points, the Google Home app runs a mesh test to ensure the distance between points is correct and that the signal is strong. Was this page helpful?
